Buddy for email

Tell me what you’re looking for in your inbox. With your email connected, I’ll read it, give you the short version, and draft any replies for you to send.

A dad in Montclair, New Jersey, packing two lunches before the bus.

Tell me what you’re looking for in your inbox. I’ll read it, tell you what needs you, and draft the replies you want. You decide what gets sent.

  • Forward me this thread and tell me what they’re actually asking.
  • Find the email from the plumber with the quote and give me the number.
  • Draft a reply saying Tuesday works, but don’t send it.
How connecting your email works
  1. Today 6:20 AM
  2. You: catch me up on this week’s emails from the school, and tell me what needs a signature
  3. Buddy: I can, once your Gmail is connected. Here’s the link. Finish the sign-in and come back.
  4. You: ok done
  5. 6:24 AM
  6. Buddy: Five from Maya’s school this week. Two need a signature: Maya’s field trip form, due Friday, and the new pickup form, due Monday.
  7. Buddy: The rest: early dismissal Wednesday at 12:30, the book fair next week, and a PTA reminder. Nothing else needs you.
  8. You: draft a reply to ms. ortiz that the trip form comes back tomorrow
  9. Buddy: It’s in your Gmail drafts. I didn’t send it, so give it a look first.
  10. You: you’re the best Buddy loved this.

From a full inbox to the short version

  1. Connect your email

I read your inbox only through a connected app, like Gmail or Outlook. Ask me and I’ll send a setup link. You finish the sign-in yourself.

  2. Tell me what you need

A sender, a week, a subject, or a question like what needs a signature. I’ll read the messages and bring back the short version.

  3. You decide what gets sent

I can draft replies in your email for you to review. Preparing a reply is different from sending it, so say which one you want.

More you can ask for

  • Catch me up on this week’s emails from the school, and tell me what needs a signature.
  • Answer these the way I usually do, but don’t send yet.
  • Find the email with our flight confirmation and text me the times.
  • Find every Home Depot receipt in my email this year and put them in a spreadsheet.
  • Every Monday morning, tell me which emails from last week still need an answer.
  • Email me that PDF so I can print it.

What you get back

  • The short version

What came in, what needs you, and by when. Ask about any one message and I’ll go deeper.

  • Drafts waiting in your email

Replies sit in your drafts for you to read, change, and send. I send to other people only when you ask and your email is connected.

    Connected apps
  • Email me directly

My email address is in setup. Write or forward to it from the address on your account, so I know it’s you, and say what you want done.

    Ways to talk to Buddy
  • Files sent to you

Ask and I’ll email a result, like a PDF or a summary, to your own verified address.

Hi Ms. Ortiz, Maya’s signed field trip form will come back with her tomorrow. Thank you!

Questions people ask

Does Buddy need my email password?

No. You connect your email through the app’s own sign-in, and you complete that step yourself. Never send a password in chat.

Can I email Buddy without connecting my inbox?

Yes. Buddy’s email address is shown in setup. Write or forward to it from the address on your account, which is how he knows it’s you, and he’ll reply there. Reading your inbox or sending to other people needs a connected app.

Will he send emails without asking?

No. Say whether you want a draft or a sent message, and who it goes to, and he does just that.

How do I disconnect it?

Ask Buddy how, or use the connected-app settings in the VXBE desktop app. Disconnecting stops his use of that account.
