Buddy for daycare research

Give me the daycares you’re looking at and when you need a spot. I’ll check each one, line them up, and tell you what still needs a phone call.

Twelve weeks of leave left, and three daycares to choose from in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Send me the names and what matters to you. I’ll check each one’s own site, line them up, and tell you what still needs a call. Forms wait for you to submit.

  • Find infant daycares within ten minutes of my work that open by 7.
  • Draft a note to Little Acorns asking about price, openings, and a tour.
  • Check St. Mark’s site each week and tell me when they post infant openings.
How research and comparisons work
  1. Today 10:45 AM
  2. You: can you compare little acorns, bright start, and st. mark’s? price, hours, waitlist. infant room, she starts in march
  3. Buddy: On it. I’ll check each one’s own site and the state’s child care licensing lookup.
  4. 11:03 AM
  5. Buddy: Bright Start: $315 a week, open 6:30 to 6. About a three-month waitlist, so March is close.
  6. Buddy: St. Mark’s: $290 a week, 7 to 5:30, and infant spots open in January. Little Acorns doesn’t post prices and says to call.
  7. Buddy: All three show current licenses. I haven’t contacted anyone.
  8. You: can you get us on bright start’s waitlist? their form is online
  9. Buddy: I filled it in with what you’ve told me and a March start. Look it over and submit it yourself:

From three names to a decision

  1. Tell me the names and what matters

Price, hours, waitlist, distance from work, whatever you’re weighing. Add your ZIP and I can look for others nearby.

  2. I check and compare

Each daycare’s own site and your state’s public licensing record, side by side in a spreadsheet. If a place doesn’t list something, I say so instead of guessing.

  3. You make the calls and the choice

I can draft notes and fill in waitlist forms. You check them, and you decide what gets sent or submitted.

More you can ask for

  • Compare the three daycares near us on price, hours, and waitlist.
  • Look up Bright Start’s state inspection reports and tell me what they found.
  • Add the St. Mark’s tour to my calendar for Tuesday at 9:30.
  • Make a list of questions to ask on a daycare tour.
  • Fill in Bright Start’s waitlist form, and hand it to me before it’s submitted.
  • What would each one cost for a full year, counting registration fees?

What you get back

  • A side-by-side spreadsheet

Price, hours, waitlist, and anything else you asked about, one row per daycare, saved as a file you can open and keep.

    Work with files
  • What each place actually says

Taken from their own sites and the state’s public records where they’re posted, with where I found it. A posted price can change, so confirm it on the tour.

    How research works
  • What still needs a call

When a place doesn’t post prices or openings, I say so and can draft the question for you.

  • Forms ready for you

I can fill in an online waitlist form and hand you my screen to check it. You’re the one who submits it.

Questions people ask

Does Buddy call the daycares?

No. He reads what each place posts online and drafts notes you can send. If you connect your email, he can send a note for you when you ask.

How current is the information?

It’s what each site and public record says when Buddy checks. Prices, hours, and openings change, so confirm the details with the daycare before you decide.

Will he submit a waitlist form or pay a fee?

Not on his own. He fills in the form and hands you his screen to review and submit it. A sign-in or a fee goes in on the daycare’s own page, never in chat.

Can he tell me which daycare is best?

He can lay out the tradeoffs against what you said matters and point out questions to ask on a tour.

The choice is yours. The legwork doesn’t have to be.
