Buddy for big research jobs
Send me the whole job at once, like a list of five things to look into. I’ll work through the parts and send back one answer you can compare.
A wrestling coach in Roanoke, Virginia, whose minivan needs a transmission it isn’t worth.
Buddy made the photo of the list in this conversation to stand in for the one a person would send.
Send me the whole list and what rules something out. I’ll work through every part and bring it back as one answer, with sources.
- Look into these four apartment listings and tell me which ones allow dogs.
- Compare these four daycares on hours, cost, and what parents say, and put it in one table.
- Find a few places for a quiet weekend within two hours of here, under $200 a night, and compare them.
- You sent a picture: A photo of a handwritten list on a yellow legal pad: five used SUVs with years, miles, and prices, all within an hour of Roanoke
- You: van needs a transmission so we’re done with it. can you research these five at the same time and give me one comparison? all within an hour of roanoke
- Buddy: Yes. I’ll look into all five at once and bring them back as one comparison. Anything that rules one out?
- You: nothing over 90k miles. heading into practice, just text me
- 12:26 PM
- Buddy: All five are back. The Escape is already marked sold, and the CR‑V listing says 96,000 miles, not the 69,000 on your list. The Forester and the RAV4 look strongest. Sources are on the second sheet.
- Five SUVs, compared.xlsxExcel spreadsheet
- Buddy: A listing isn’t a hold, and prices change. Call before you drive out.
- You: taking the kids to see the forester saturday Buddy liked this.

From a long list to one answer
Send the whole job
The list, the links, or a photo of your notes, in one message. Tell me what matters and what rules something out.
I work through the parts
I look into each part, then bring them back together. A bigger job can keep going after my first reply, so you can leave and come back.
Get one answer
A comparison you can read in a minute, with sources. Ask me to narrow it, dig into one part, or turn it into a spreadsheet or PDF.
More you can ask for
- Research the five used SUVs on this list at the same time and give me one comparison.
- Check which of these six roofers are licensed in Virginia, and since when.
- Compare the return policies of these five mattress stores in one table.
- Look up these six summer camps and tell me the dates, the cost, and how to sign up for each.
- Compare these three laptops on price, weight, and battery life, and make me a spreadsheet.
- Turn the comparison into a one-page PDF I can show my wife.
What you get back
One comparison
Every option side by side, in a message or a spreadsheet you can sort.
Working with dataSources you can check
Where each fact came from on the public web, so you can look closer at the one that matters.
How research worksWhat didn’t hold up
A listing already sold, a number that doesn’t match, or something I couldn’t find. I say so rather than fill the gap.
Word when it’s done
Bigger jobs can keep going after my first reply. I come back with the result, and you can ask how it’s going anytime.
Asking Buddy
| SUV | Price, miles | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 Forester | $21,400, 58k | One owner, records |
| 2019 RAV4 | $21,900, 71k | New tires, per listing |
| 2019 Tucson | $17,500, 64k | Listing notes an accident |
| 2018 CR‑V | $18,700, 96k | Over your 90k limit |
| 2018 Escape | $15,900, 82k | Marked sold |
| Strongest | Forester, RAV4 | Call before you go |
Questions people ask
Do I need to send each part separately?
No. Send the whole job in one message. Buddy can work through the parts and bring them back together, so you don’t have to turn it into a series of separate requests.
Do I have to wait in the conversation?
No. Some larger jobs keep going after Buddy’s first reply. You can leave and come back to an update, a question, or the result, and you don’t need the VXBE desktop app open.
Where does the information come from?
The public web, with sources. An answer can only be as complete as what Buddy can reach, and he can’t sign in to a site for you without you taking over that step.
Can he hold the car or contact the seller?
A listing isn’t a hold, and a price can change, so call before you go. Sending a message to a seller needs a connected app, and Buddy doesn’t buy anything you haven’t asked him to.
Is he telling me which one to buy?
He compares and points out what to ask. Buddy isn’t a mechanic or a financial advisor, and the choice is yours.
