Voice messages and dictation

Record a message, dictate a draft, or ask for a spoken reply.

You can share a recording where your conversation supports audio, use dictation in the VXBE desktop app, or ask Buddy for a recorded voice reply.

Dictate a message

In the VXBE desktop app, Talk to Buddy starts microphone input. Choose Finish recording when you're done. The transcription goes into your draft so you can read it, make changes, and send it yourself. Cancel transcription stops that transcription attempt.

Dictation isn't an always-open call. Check the draft before sending, especially names, numbers, and anything the microphone might have picked up around you.

Share a recording

Send an audio attachment through a channel that supports it and tell Buddy what you need from it. Automatic listening supports up to ten minutes per attached recording. Recordings longer than ten minutes aren't transcribed automatically. Send a shorter relevant excerpt.

Noise, overlapping speech, or an unfamiliar name can affect the result. Point out a correction if the words matter to what you're asking.

Hear the reply

Just ask Buddy for a voice message. If you prefer a written answer, say so. Recorded replies are different from a live phone conversation.

In the VXBE desktop app, an available audio reply has Play voice message and Pause voice message controls. How audio appears in other apps depends on the channel.

There's also an optional shortcut: send /voice by itself to toggle voice replies for the current conversation. Send it again to toggle back. You can still explicitly ask for a voice message when automatic voice replies are off.
