Slash commands

Quick controls for conversations, voice replies, and model class.

You can ask Buddy for what you need in ordinary words. These shortcuts are useful when you want to start or find a chat, change how he replies, or choose a model class.

Put the shortcut at the start of your message. In email, put it at the start of the message body, not the subject. These shortcuts work in the VXBE desktop app, iMessage, and email.

TypeWhat happens
/newStarts a fresh chat. In iMessage or email, your next message on that channel goes to the new chat. In the VXBE desktop app, open the new chat from your chat list.
/helpShows these shortcuts.
/rename Summer tripNames the chat you're in. Replace "Summer trip" with the name you want.
/resume Summer tripFinds an earlier chat by name. In iMessage or email, your next message on that channel goes there. In the VXBE desktop app, open it from your chat list. If several chats match, Buddy asks for a more specific name.
/voiceTurns automatic voice replies on or off for this chat. Send it by itself; /voice on and /voice off won't change the setting. You can still ask for a voice message when automatic voice replies are off.
/proChooses the Pro model class for your Buddy account. The choice applies to future work across your chats.
/maxChooses the Max model class for your Buddy account. The choice applies to future work across your chats.
/usageShows your remaining monthly credits, usage, and period end when a current allowance is available. Recent work may still be settling.

You can add a request after /pro or /max, such as /max Help me compare these options. Buddy confirms the class change, then answers your request using that class. The class choice changes credit rates for future work. It doesn't change your subscription plan or monthly credit allowance. See how the classes work.

The VXBE desktop app has one additional shortcut: /feedback or /feedback followed by a note. Once Buddy has replied in that chat, it opens a confirmation before sharing the conversation so far, your note, and its technical logs for feedback. VXBE also sends that package to its support provider. In iMessage or email, ask Buddy in ordinary words to send feedback instead. Sharing a conversation still needs your permission. Read how feedback is handled.
