Reminders and ongoing work

Reminders, recurring work, and keeping an eye on something.

You can ask Buddy to do something later, repeat useful work, or keep checking for a change that matters to you. Describe the result, the timing, and when the work should stop.

Remind me tomorrow at 4 to send the forms.

Or, for something ongoing:

Every Friday morning, help me review the open items from this project.

A loose window works too. "Sometime in the next 3 to 4 hours" is enough, and Buddy picks the time. Braden, who made Buddy, wrote about how he uses reminders like this with ADHD.

The accounts and information needed for the work still have to be available. A schedule doesn't create access that Buddy doesn't already have.

Waiting for a change

You can ask Buddy to check for a change and tell you when he finds it. For example: "Check this page each morning this week and let me know when registration opens." Give him the place to check, the change you're interested in, and when to stop.

Checking periodically isn't the same as seeing every change instantly. Asking for a notification also isn't the same as authorizing a purchase or message. Be clear about the outcome you want.

Change or stop future work

In the conversation where you set it up, ask Buddy what's scheduled, change the timing, pause a follow-up, resume it, or remove future runs. You can ask whether a particular run happened and what its outcome was.

You can also open Settings, then Scheduled work, in the VXBE desktop app to review and manage reminders and repeating work. Ask Buddy when you want to change what a scheduled job does, or use timing that the settings don't offer.

Stopping future runs doesn't reverse work already completed. If an action may already have happened, check that outcome separately before asking for another attempt.

You can leave the conversation

Scheduled work is handled online, so the VXBE desktop app doesn't need to remain open for a future run. If the work needs a new sign-in, missing information, or another step from you, that still has to be resolved.

Look for the actual outcome rather than assuming that something finished just because its scheduled time passed. When you need a hand covers missing results and partial completion.
