You can get acquainted with Buddy on the web, then keep talking in iMessage, email, or the VXBE desktop app for Windows. The desktop app is optional.
Start with your account
Buddy is currently for adults 18 and older in the United States.
Get started shows the current plans and access options. An account on its own doesn't include access to Buddy. A paid plan includes Buddy and the currently available capabilities; the plan page explains what's included before you choose.
After access is confirmed, follow Set up your Buddy from your account page. You'll meet your actual Buddy, not a sample conversation. You can introduce yourself, ask for help, or skip ahead to setting up a way to reach him.
You don't need to arrive with a project or complete a tutorial. If setup gets interrupted, return to Finish setup using the same account.
Choose where to talk
In setup, choose iMessage or email, or follow the Windows download link. Each has a different first step:
- For iMessage, enter your US phone number, get a code, and send that code to the number shown from the phone you entered. Setup supplies +1 for you. Wait for Buddy's confirmation in Messages.
- For email, use the Buddy address shown for your account and send from the email address on that account.
- For the VXBE desktop app, install it on Windows and sign in with the same account.
The welcome page is for getting acquainted and finishing setup. Your everyday conversations happen through those channels. Read about the different ways to talk.
Bring one thing
It can be a quick question or a document you want summarized. Tell Buddy what would be useful. You can add detail or change direction as the conversation develops.
