Connect your apps

Connect an account when the work calls for it.

Connect an account when Buddy needs information or access from an app you use. You can ask for the work first; you don't have to set up every possible connection in advance.

Look at my calendar for next week and help me find a few open times for a dentist appointment.

Connecting the calendar lets Buddy work with your actual availability. For other requests, he may need access to your email, documents, or another app you use.

Find and connect an app

You can just ask Buddy to help you connect the app you need. He can provide a setup link when a supported connection is available. Complete the sign-in yourself, then return to the conversation.

Open Connected apps and sign in to your VXBE account. Choose the app you want, select Connect, and follow its sign-in or setup instructions. Review the account and access being requested before completing the connection.

The directory shows what is available to your account. Some capabilities need no sign-in, some require setup in the other service, and some may be unavailable. A familiar app logo doesn't mean every feature of that app is supported.

You can also manage connected apps in the VXBE desktop app through Settings, then Connected apps. If Buddy sends you a connection link during a conversation, complete the setup there and return to him.

Access can change

An expired sign-in, changed permission, or service problem can interrupt a connection. Follow the current reconnect or setup instructions rather than sending credentials in chat. If more than one account could be involved, make clear which one you want Buddy to use.

Disconnect when you need to

If you're unsure where to go, ask Buddy how to disconnect an app. You can also use the settings directly.

The VXBE desktop app's connected-app settings include disconnection controls. Disconnecting removes that connection from Buddy's use; it doesn't undo a message already sent or erase information already saved elsewhere. For broader data removal, see Your information.

The connected service also handles information under its own policy. Connect the access needed for your request, and use your capability controls when you want to change what Buddy can use.
