Buddy can work through websites as part of your request: follow links, compare information across pages, download material, or fill in a form. Tell him the outcome you want and any limits that matter. You don't need to narrate each click.
Find the application form for this program and help me fill it out using the details in my document. Leave it ready for me to review before submitting.
For work that also needs files or software, Buddy can use his own computer. You can ask from iMessage, email, or the VXBE desktop app.
Watch or take part
Just ask Buddy if you'd like to watch his browser or take over for a step. Watching lets him keep working while you observe. Taking over gives you control, and Buddy waits for you to finish before continuing that browser work.
- In the VXBE desktop app, open Watch Buddy or Take over when that control appears in the conversation. After taking over, return to the conversation and choose Done or Cancel.
- In iMessage, a takeover handoff arrives as a link. Open it in your browser, choose Open Buddy's screen, and use I'm done or Cancel on that page when you've finished.
- In email, the takeover notice includes the same kind of link. You can finish on the page or reply to Buddy's email with "done" or "cancel."
The takeover links let you help without installing the VXBE desktop app. For watching without taking control, use the live view offered in the VXBE desktop app.
When a website needs you
A sign-in, a human check, sensitive information, or a visual choice may need your participation. Buddy can offer a takeover for that step. Enter passwords and other sensitive information in the website itself rather than pasting them into chat. Buddy can still see the page when he resumes work.
If a handoff link has expired, reply to Buddy and ask him to reopen the step. A sign-in may also need to be completed again later.
Some websites refuse access or require a step Buddy can't complete. He should explain what remains and what help is needed. If the work is in an app you use regularly, connecting that account may give him a more direct way to help.
Know what actually happened
Preparing a form is different from submitting it. Reaching checkout is different from completing an order. Buddy's result should distinguish preparation, completion, and anything that remains uncertain.
If a page stops responding after a consequential action, ask Buddy to check the outcome before repeating it. A missing confirmation isn't proof that an order, message, or change didn't go through. Choosing Cancel during a handoff doesn't undo changes already made.
